Underwards is a Sydney jazz quartet led by trumpeter and composer Ellen Kirkwood, with Hilary Geddes on guitar, Nick Henderson on bass and synths and Alex Inman-Hislop on drums. Their debut album Delve came out on Earshift Music in 2023, and six of its pieces came from an APRA Art Music Fund commission about Dabee Country near Kandos. Their 2026 single Cormorant's Dive draws on time at Ganguddy and on Kirkwood's PhD research.
